Background

I have been a Medical and Scientific Writer since 1996, and exclusively freelance since 2001. My background is in Engineering (BS, Mechanical Engineering) and Neurobiology (PhD, Neurobiology). I did graduate and postdoctoral research on the electrophysiological properties of invertebrate and vertebrate neurons, focusing on the properties of ion channels and synaptic transmission. (see Publications Here; opens in a new window). After that time, I worked as a Medical Writer and Managing Medical Editor for a major medical education and communication company, which continues to be one of my clients.

Location

I am based in Bend, Oregon at the eastern foot of the Cascade Mountains, but I work with clients all around the US, as well as internationally.

Leisure Time

I am an avid kayaker, nordic skier, and hiker. I also spent several years as a founding board member of our local Education Foundation, and continue to do volunteer work for local organizations.

Below are photos from some of my adventures.
